Domestic, Illuminate, Commute, and Challenge

This continues the March Photo Challenge. I was having trouble with the prompts 3 and 4, which delayed in posting yesterday.  I took some pictures, but they are not really all that creative.

3) Domestic
I hate washing dishes. I've always hated washing dishes. Even now that I have a dishwasher, I hate it. But once I wash my dishes, load and run the dishwasher, there is a sense of accomplishment when I look at my kitchen sink , and it's empty. Sure I have dishes in still in the dry rack, but they are clean.

I've had to embrace my domesticity now that I'm not working. I often tell Michael that I'm not a very good housewife, because I dislike housework. I'm not a slob, so before my IRL friends perform an intervention to get me to clean my house, I'll reassure all of you - my house is clean. It just takes me a while to get motivated to clean it since discovering the Wii Harry Potter lego game.

4) Illuminate
I have nightlights all thoughout my house: one in the kitchen, one in the guest bathroom, our bathroom and two in the bedroom James is in at night. Its hard to take a picture of that, so I took one of my Fragrance warmer on the dining room table.

Growing up, my mom had nightlights everywhere too, in the kitchen, her bathroom, my bathroom, and the hallway. There was always the added security in knowing a nightlight was present, so I wasn't bathed in total darkness.

I hate being in the dark.

5) Commute (old)

This is the way to my old job. Since it was about 1/2 a mile from my home, I would walk to work.  I liked walking to work, it was convenient and the bonus...a Star.bucks was on my way, so I could get my drink before my 7am shift.

5) Commute (new)

This is my new commute, from my bedroom to my kitchen (yes, that is Jack on top of the fridge). Its not a bad commute. I like not working. I've had less anxiety attacks since being laid off last May.

6)  I Challenge thee to get along

Since getting a new kitten last December it has been a bit interesting seeing the boys interact. Some days are better than others, but almost everything starts with a fight. James usually starts the fight, Jack always finishes it. Its hard to know if Jack actually likes James. Overall, I think Jack just tolerates him, and when he gets out of hand gladly puts him in his place.

6) I challenge thee not to eat the entire box.

Its Girl Scout Cookie time and I just got my cookies from my friend yesterday. I love sweets, cookies, cakes, donuts - if its sweet and has sugar in it, I'll eat it. I do have the gift of protion control and eating in moderation, but it's harder now that I'm home all day and even more when its Girl Scout Cookie season.

I ate 7 of these cookies in one sitting yesterday (I was seriously considering eating the whole box, they were that good.) So I did what any rational person obsessed with cookies would do. I divided up the remaining cookies (had to eat two, because the numbers were uneven), put them in snack bags, then put the cookie filled snack bags back in the box and hid the box in my fridge.

March Photo Challenge

I've decided to participate in the March Photo Challenge sponsered by Belle from Scrambled Eggs. It seemed like a fun thing to do and I'm hoping it will challenge me since I really don't like taking pictures.

It started at the beginning of March so I have about 11 pics to take (wow, I really didn't think this through).

I'm a little late, but I think I will show two pics a day until I'm caught up.

I'll post the first two.

1) Self Portrait

Yes, its upside down, which kind of reflects how I feel my life has been the last 8 years living with IF. I'm sure one of these days things will eventually right themselves, but for now life is a bit topsy-turvy.

I've noticed that I get "the weepies" about once a month at the beginning of each month. I'm not sure if it still has to do with grief from the failed adoption, or if its just the frustration from the stagnantion of our current adoption situation, or both. There really isn't anything I can do about it, except allow myself to feel those emotions and end up with a crying hangover.

On the upside, I kind of like how skinny my face looks in this picture.

2) feet
Now this is just an excuse to post a picture of James. As you can see he has got so much bigger since January, and he is the ultimate little brother to Jack. He starts fights and then cries if Jack gets "too rough" (which is pretty hilarious since he started the fight in the first place). He is the total opposite of Jack in personality. He is extremely vocal, lets you hold him, and is very playful (though I'm sure Jack was when he was 6 months old).

:(  My foot looks chubby. Maybe a pedi will make it look thinner?
