Rollercoaster
I love rollercoasters
The ups and downs,
The highs and lows,
Of speeding along the track.
The weightless feeling
Of spiraling through a corkscrew turn.
I scream in excitement
As my stomach flips,
All the while
Thanking God
For the shoulder straps securing me.
I love rollercoasters
My heart beats in anticipation
As the car climbs the incline.
I know what’s coming
I see what looms ahead
A shocking dip followed by
A heart-stopping upside down loop.
I lift up my hands,
And enjoy the elation
That comes with letting go.
No surprises, just relief
As the waist bar holds me tightly.
I love rollercoasters,
But I don’t like the one I’m on now.
Too many lows,
Not enough highs
And I can never see where it’s taking me.
My stomach drops with each dive,
My heart no longer races with each climb.
Instead of an exhilarated high
That comes with the journey.
All I feel is exhaustion
As the ride never seems to stop.
I know I’m not alone
I see you sitting next to me.
I can feel your arm
draped over my shoulders,
Securing me to your warm side.
You said you’d ride with me,
But I didn’t believe you’d stay.
I’m sorry for doubting,
Forgive me for not trusting.
I'm just so tired of struggling
To stay high, only to be let down.

Aw, what a pretty kitty! I'm going to answer your question from my blog on your blog since I don't know where else to put it (and I didn't want it right there on my blog for everyone to see since I'm technically not supposed to blog about it). The child we were matched with is no longer available for adoption. We have a new referral now. So we're pushed back by a few months and are very sad that the little girl whose picture we've been staring at for months will never be ours :(
Sure, they have kids, but do their kids purr? Absolutely not. (And if they do, that's strange!) I feel you on the first day of school pictures. I'm having a hard time not putting a back pack on my yellow lab and posting one of him waiting for the bus. ;) Hi from ICLW!

What a gorgeous kitty.
BTW, an arachnaphobic tip, did you know that lemon juice sprayed along the openings (like windows and doors) will keep spiders away? It really works.
